A hit rate expressed as percentage points above or below 50% — the score a random up/down guess would get.
A directional call has two outcomes, so a coin flip scores 50% over enough calls. The coin-flip edge is simply hit rate − 50 points: a 53.4% strategy has a +3.4-point edge, a 48.6% one a −1.4-point edge. Reports quote it next to every hit rate so the reader never has to do the subtraction.
The edge is only meaningful with volume: +15 points on 20 calls is noise, +3 points on 3,000 calls is a signal. That is why agent and ticker tables on the reports carry minimum call counts.
