During the trading day the latest daily bar is a moving target: its close is really the last print. Fortivio stores such bars flagged as provisional, so live views can show them while every read that matters — grading, the stock page's price card, the sitemap — uses final bars only.
A bar becomes final when its session has closed and the settled OHLC arrives. Grading on a provisional bar would let a call be scored against a price that later changes; the flag is what makes the record immutable in practice.
